Services

Our Services

At the Creative Counselling Centre, we offer two integrated streams of support:

Clinical Counselling and Outreach Support Services. These can be accessed individually or combined, depending on the needs and goals of each client.

All services are rooted in a neurodevelopmentally informed, bottom-up approach, supporting regulation, safety, and meaningful connection through creative and relational methods.

Clinical Counselling

Our Clinical Counselling stream is delivered by master’s-level Registered Clinical Counsellors and offers support for children, youth, and adults through a variety of creative, evidence-informed approaches. These may include:

  • Play-based, music, and art therapy

  • Emotion-focused and family-based models

  • Somatic and sensory-informed approaches

  • Narrative and relational frameworks

  • Skills-based interventions like DBT and CBT (adapted for developmental readiness)

  • Attachment-focused and trauma-informed therapy

  • Psychoeducation and collaborative care planning

All of our clinical work is grounded in a bottom-up understanding of regulation and relational safety, drawing from frameworks such as the Neurosequential Model and Polyvagal Theory. Sessions are paced to support trust, co-regulation, and internal capacity—especially for clients who may not benefit from traditional talk therapy alone.

Therapeutic Recreation

Therapeutic Recreation at Creative Counselling Centre blends movement, play, creativity, and connection to support regulation, confidence, and overall well-being. Rooted in a bottom-up, neurodevelopmentally informed approach, these sessions focus on the body and nervous system as a gateway to emotional and behavioural growth.

Led by trained recreation therapists or senior outreach support workers with backgrounds in mental health, our sessions are tailored to each individual’s developmental needs, interests, and goals. Whether we’re working indoors, outdoors, or in community settings, we use recreation as a way to foster co-regulation, agency, executive functioning, and relational safety.

Therapeutic recreation may include:

  • Movement and coordination-based play

  • Outdoor activities, nature walks, and gym visits

  • Climbing, swimming, or team sports (where appropriate)

  • Skill-building for transitions, routines, and group participation

  • Body-based coping strategies for emotional regulation

  • Activities that support interoception, proprioception, and sensory awareness

  • Collaborative games to support flexible thinking and social connection

Sessions are active, engaging, and highly individualized—meeting participants where they are and supporting growth through safe, shared experiences. When appropriate, therapeutic recreation is coordinated with counselling or outreach services to ensure integrated and consistent support.

Music Therapy

Music Therapy at Creative Counselling Centre offers an engaging, non-verbal way to support regulation, emotional expression, connection, and communication. Grounded in a relational and bottom-up approach, music becomes a bridge between nervous system states and interpersonal safety—helping clients access new ways of coping, feeling, and relating.

Sessions are led by a Certified Music Therapist (MTA) and may include:

  • Improvisation, songwriting, drumming, and movement

  • Vocal exploration and breath work

  • Musical games and play-based interactions

  • Guided listening and music-assisted relaxation

  • Opportunities for creative self-expression and storytelling through music

Music therapy is especially effective for individuals who struggle with traditional talk-based therapy, including neurodivergent children and youth, trauma survivors, and non-speaking or selectively speaking clients. The medium of music provides structure, rhythm, and emotional containment while also offering space for freedom and agency.

Our music therapy services are always relationship-focused and developmentally paced, supporting regulation and trust before expecting reflection or verbal insight. Sessions can be delivered individually or in dyads (e.g., parent-child pairs), and may be integrated into a broader care plan with clinical counselling or outreach services.

Art Therapy

Program coming soon!

Art Therapy at Creative Counselling Centre offers a creative and embodied way to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences—without needing to rely on words. Guided by a Registered Art Therapist, sessions use the art-making process to support regulation, self-expression, sensory integration, and relational safety.

Our art therapy approach is rooted in bottom-up, trauma-informed principles, emphasizing process over product and connection over correction. Art becomes a way to externalize what can’t yet be verbalized, helping clients access their internal world in a safe, supported, and developmentally appropriate way.

Sessions may include:

  • Drawing, painting, clay work, or mixed media

  • Sensory-based or movement-integrated art activities

  • Storytelling through visual imagery

  • Emotion exploration and symbolic expression

  • Collaborative or dyadic art (e.g., parent-child sessions)

  • Gentle structure for clients who benefit from routine and containment

Art therapy is ideal for children and youth who process through play, movement, or image—and for clients of any age who find it difficult to engage in traditional talk therapy. Sessions may be offered individually or in conjunction with other services such as counselling or outreach support, ensuring an integrated care experience.

Community Outreach and Support Services

Our Outreach Support Team provides in-home, school, daycare, and community-based support for children and youth who benefit from relational, creative, and regulation-focused care outside of a traditional therapy setting.

Delivered by Junior and Senior Support Workers, outreach sessions are guided by our clinic’s core values: co-regulation, safety, strengths-based support, and non-compliance-based practice. Services are tailored to the child’s developmental level, sensory profile, and environment, and can be coordinated with clinical counselling or creative therapies when appropriate.

Outreach support may include:

  • Co-regulation and emotion coaching in real-time settings

  • Structured support for routines, transitions, and daily life

  • Recreation-based engagement (e.g., nature walks, gym visits, climbing)

  • Executive functioning and behaviour support (non-behaviourist)

  • Art, music, or play-based activities to support connection and regulation

  • Community access and social participation

  • Parallel planning across two-home families or caregiving systems

Our outreach workers build attuned, supportive relationships with children and families over time. They help translate therapeutic principles into everyday life—offering consistent, hands-on support in moments that matter most.

With client permission, all service providers at the CCC engage in regular Integrated Case Management meetings to ensure continuity of care.
